The AMA (WA) – your professional support throughout your student life

The Australian Medical Association (WA) represents medical students on important issues that affect you now at university and during your future career in medicine, in addition to offering a range of benefits as part of your free AMA (WA) membership.

Medical students have the opportunity to upgrade and enhance their skills through programs such as Dr YES.

We lobby on behalf of our student members for funding for medical school places, intern and specialty training positions and to ensure the adequate provision of work and training places for graduating students.

The AMA (WA) also works with and supports student bodies such as UWA’s Western Australian Medical Students’ Society (WAMSS), the Medical Students’ Association of Notre Dame (MSAND) and the Curtin Association of Medical Students (CAMS) in the development of various initiatives during the year.

WAMSS, MSAND and CAMS Presidents are invited to sit on the AMA (WA) Council and also have the opportunity to be a part of the Doctors in Training (DiT) Practice Group.

The AMA (WA) offers medical students the opportunity to enhance their skills through programs such as the Dr YES program and other public health programs coordinated through the Association.
